Suzanne Anderson is an author, blogger, publishing consultant, book coach and Canada’s foremost expert on self-publishing. When she published her first book in 1997, she learned just how little information there was on how to self-publish in Canada. Her book Self Publishing in Canada: A complete guide to designing, printing and selling your book is now in its second edition. It is a step-by-step guide to publishing your own book with current information for today’s self-publisher.
Suzanne has made presentations at Word On The Street in Vancouver, the Pacific Festival of the Book in Victoria, the Royal City Book Festival in New Westminster, and Victoria’s Literary Info Fair. She has also made presentations to the Independent Publishers Association of Canada in Calgary.
She conducts seminars and workshops on self-publishing, including Simon Fraser University’s Summer Publishing program and Camosun College in Victoria.

Learning to self-publish…
“When I self-published my first book I didn’t want to make expensive mistakes, so I read all the books I could find about how to self-publish. I started taking courses on publishing – a practice that I continue today. I wrote Self Publishing in Canada to share what I had learned. In 2011 I wrote a second edition of what my readers started to call The Self Publishing Book to give today’s self-publisher current information.”
Reaching out to others…
” I started giving workshops and seminars in order to share my knowledge about self-publishing in a practical, hands-on way. When readers asked for my help in navigating the self-publishing process, I began book coaching to give a one-to-one experience as they published their own book. Blogging is another way I share information with self-publishers.”
“My goal all along has been to help people get their books out there and able to compete with the trade press books in the market. ”
